Comments VdH: Only occurs here in Latin, Varro 5,160 has the Greek form. It often indicates the treasury in the inner cell of a temple. TLL supports. Probably not a c-s given the context. Patrick James: This seems just to be the architectural term that one uses, but app. first here in Lat., then Ulp. and CIL 3.13665. Here, it is non-specific to Athens (contra LSJ in general). Note archiis < ἀρχεῖον and perh. thecis for arcis < θήκη.
